The Log HomeThis custom five-bedroom, three-bath, two-story log home features two fireplaces, extensive wrap-around covered porches, and a full basement. The logs are eastern white pine, and were brought in from Tennessee. Featuring massive beams and hand-hewn 'flat' logs with chinking, the home is truly a work of art. Wide plank pine flooring gives the home that special rustic log home feel. Guests enjoy 'martini sunsets' from the front porch overlooking the pond, with all its wildlife.
The first floor master has a view out over the stocked pond and fishing dock, giving that year-round vacation feel. Also located on the first floor is the guest bedroom, known as "the Lincoln bedroom." The high energy "Water Furnace" uses the latest in energy-saving technology to help heat and cool the home at minimum cost. The system draws from the natural temperature of the earth to both heat and cool the home during all seasons. Special coils were placed in the pond to draw heat for the winter and cool for the summer. The dovetail corners and hand-hewn logs with chinking make this an authentic log home. No detail was overlooked in the design and construction of this amazing private country executive retreat. Guests enjoy gathering near the stone fireplace in the great family room on fall and winter evenings. Sunrise breakfasts from the back porch are a great time for bird watching and viewing wildlife. With all utilities brought in underground, there are no unsightly wires running to the house. The views of nature from every window are a chance to once again enjoy the deer, birds, turkey, geese, ducks, blue herons, horned owls, and many more native wildlife. With our neighboring bison, we often feel like we are driving through Yellowstone Park! |
